Klint’s Flowers
Happy go lucky Klint Turner, 35, of Klint’s Flowers, Preston, sees good luck and opportunity as the key of his success in business.
In 1995, aged only a meagre 22, Klint sold everything he owned in a bid to go for broke and get out of the normal 9 to 5 rat race. So, taking the plunge he hung up his butcher’s apron and looked for something much more demanding.
Young and keen, he turned his hand to floristry. Not having any experience in the field before he surprised his friends and family with his self taught skills and so his empire began.
His first floristry stall, based on the corner of the market was an instant hit with locals, who enjoyed Klint’s manner of making them feel special.
He said: “I like making customers happy and bringing a smile into their world. I like getting to know everyone.”
With the success of Klint’s flowers in Preston, other branches soon followed. Within two years the business had really excelled and branches in Blackburn, Burnley, Wigan and Bury opened.
However, while Klint’s business achievements have ensured success it is clear that it has been done through hard work and sheer determination. Since he opened his first shop back in 1995, Klint has managed to make sure that he sticks to a tight regime.
Commenting he said: “My day always starts at six am, I’m out in the van, maintaining that the business is running smoothly.”
Father to three young boys, Klint makes sure that he is home to sit down with his soon to be wife, Donna, and the boys, aged 8, 5, and 2 for tea every night.
“Seeing my children means everything to me and after we have eaten Donna and I spend time with them. Once they’ve gone to bed I’m working again, either doing the books or stocktaking. It’s nonstop but I thrive off it.”
Although his children want for nothing, he makes sure that they value money and acknowledge that money only comes from effort and hard work. In fact his eldest son, Isaac helps out packing the van occasionally in a bid to earn his spending money and he knows that his Dad has worked hard to get where he is today.
As Klint’s empire rose within Lancashire, he decided to branch out and has other businesses which are closer to his home in Wigan. He has two storage businesses based there and also owns several properties which he rents out.
When asked what he thought the key was to his success in business, he said:
“My Dad always used to tell me that you could have anything you ever wanted as long as you got off your backside and earned the money. I grew up sticking by that philosophy and it’s worked – with hard work.”
With a vision of early retirement nearing for Klint, he is now working harder than ever – and has a dream of moving his family to Australia one day, where he can relax and watch his children reap the benefits of all the effort he has certainly put in over the years.
You can find Klint’s Flowers situated at Unit 4 on Preston Market, where your day is sure to be brightened up, by the flowers and the lovely banter!

For a subject as potentially visual as this, I’d have expected at least one photo!
Good reporting though. I’m enjoying your blog.
It’s coming, will be added later.
