Avenham Park rock gardensPhotos have been discovered of Avenham & Miller Park during the Victorian era.

The pictures show the original rock gardens, performances in the park and will help park keepers restore the park to its Victorian glory. There are just over 60 photos in all. The photos show that some of the park’s layout has hardly changed at all over time.

The photos were posted on the City Council’s Park Keepers blog.

We have kindly been allowed to reproduce all these historic pictures of Avenham and Miller Park in our new Preston Flickr Group ‘Preston 1800 to 1970′. Floow this link:

The group was set up to create the largest and most diverse collection of old preston images and gives everyone an opportunity to comment on the pics or post their own images. Some of the photos already posted to the group have not been seen anywhere else and the collection provides a facinating insight into the last 200 years of Britain’s newest City.
