Preston Reggae Festival

14th, March 2010 by

Prince Marley Local dub poet Prince Marley stopped by the Preston FM studio yesterday to chat about his poetry and hopes for the Preston Reggae Festival, planned for this summer.

Prince is an established poet and has performed worldwide, promoting his work across the States and on live television in the UK. During our interview he recited some of his poetry, the man truly has a gift for words, dialogue, humour and delivery. It was a real pleasure to hear his work. Prince has also worked with schools and educational establishments, delivering poetry workshops to inspire young people to write their own creative verses.

In 2006 Prince Marley brought the Bob Marley Tribute Festival to Manchester, it was the first event of it’s kind in the city, it proved to be very popular with reggae fans young and old. The team at Urban Promotions are hard at work planning Preston’s Reggae Festival with a tentative date set for late July. If you are interested in getting involved or sponsering the event contact Prince Marley at princemarley@urbanpromotions.org

The interview with Prince Marley will be broadcast on Preston 103.2FM on Thursday 18th March at 4pm.

Hey this sounds really exciting because I overheard someone mention it in the gym the other night. I believe it is going to be the first GREEN Reggae Tribute to Bob Marley festival to be held in the world. I am sure had he have lived he would be over the moon to hear this especailly with climate change and all that. To bring peoples attention to climate change this way is brilliant. Looking forward to hearing more and will tune in for sure.
