Fire at Mick’s Curry Pot

A gas explosion triggered a fire at Mick’s Curry Pot takeaway on Friargate this afternoon.

The fire, caused by a malfunction with a deep fat fryer, swiftly prompted approximately fifty 999 calls, the first of which was received at 3:43 pm.

Staff at Mick’s Curry Pot initially attempted to fight the fire themselves before realising the blaze was too powerful and exiting the premises. Traffic was suspended in both directions on Friargate as the Fire Service cordoned off the area. No one was hurt.
