Preston Elections 2011 – Before and after

Posted on - 6th May, 2011 - 2:28pm | Author - | Posted in - People, Politics

Before the election, I made up a map of Preston that showed who held each ward, and attached the names of each candidate.

Looking at it below, the city centre had quite a few Labour seats, while the outlying wards were largely Conservative, along with a smattering of Independents.

That has now changed. Labour have taken 3 wards from the Conservatives as well as the rest of the Independent-held wards to completely control southern Preston. The Conservatives have managed to hang on to their traditionally safe rural wards, but most of their city centre support has disappeared. Additionally the Liberal Democrats have taken a hit – they now only hold Ingol and Cadley wards.

You can also click on your area and find out how many votes were cast for each candidate.
