Preston Harriers become athletics champions of the North

Preston Harriers Athletic Club have become champions of the North this week.
The club, based at Preston Sports Arena, beat the competition on Sunday 5 August to scoop the the title in Halifax.
They finished one point ahead of Hull and Manchester Athletic Clubs to become Northern League Division 1 Champions.
Highlights of the final day of action saw Stephanie Row come first in the womens 800m, Lucy Sumner grabbed first in the B competition of the womens 400m hurdles and Stephen Bennett won the mens 800m.
Editor of The Harrier magazine and coach Peter Hancock said: “Yes, we are Champions. Our result at Halifax on Sunday was enough, despite a depleted team on the day.
“This has been a long time coming. Our young athletes team has been regularly getting to National Finals recently, and this is beginning to carry forward into Senior success.”
