Parents applying for school places for their child for primary or secondary schools in Preston have been asked to make a note of the deadline.
Lancashire County Council is reminding parents all children need to have a place applied for, even if older siblings are already at the same school.
Paul Bainbridge, Lancashire County Council’s head of school admissions, said: “If a family already has a child at a school, it’s easy to overlook the obvious – that they must apply for a place for their younger child.
“Places are likely to be tight in some areas, and we know how important it is to parents to get the right school for their child, so we’re encouraging them to apply on time to give themselves the best chance.
Applications for school places open on Monday 2 September 2013 and the closing dates for schools are:
Secondary schools: Applications close on Thursday 31 October 2013
Primary schools: Applications close on Wednesday 15 January 2014
Applications are done online via the Lancashire County Council website.
Children start primary school in the September after their fourth birthday.
