Cyclist in hospital following Blackpool Road collision

A cyclist remains in hospital following what police describe as a “serious collision” in Lea.

The cyclist, a 55-year-old woman, was involved in an incident with a Volkswagen car.

She received serious injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

The collision took place on Blackpool Road at 5.50pm on Tuesday 10 September. Police closed the road for three hours to allow investigations to take place.

The driver of the car, a 73-year-old man from Lytham, was uninjured.

Sergeant Tracey Ward from the Road Policing Unit said, “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact the police.

“The cyclist remains in hospital and is being treated for her injuries and we have officers supporting her family.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lancashire police on 101 quoting log reference number 1063 of September 10th.
