The roof of the Linton Street home has been destroyed

Fire crews have been called to a house fire on Linton Street.

They received the call around 3.23pm and five fire engines were deployed to the scene.

Preston station manager Shaun Walton tweeted to say: “In attendance house fire Linton St Preston heavy traffic avoid area.”

The roof of the house, in the Plungington area, has been gutted by the blaze. Fire crews believe the fire started there.

A statement from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is under investigation and they don’t believe there have been any serious injuries because of the fire.

Extension ladders, pressure ventilation units and thermal imaging cameras were used to fight the fire.

Shaun Walton tweeted a number of pictures as they tackled the flames.
