We’re delighted to say Blog Preston came runner-up in the Best City/Neighbourhood Blog in this year’s Blog North Awards.

Apologies for the delay in posting this but I’ve been moving house, but a number of us attended the awards night in Manchester on Wednesday.

Seeing our site recognised on a big screen and appreciated by lots of other bloggers and readers across the North was great to see.

Blog Preston started out in January 2009 and as we gallop towards our fifth birthday it is going from strength to strength, we’ve got a great team of community contributors, a loyal and active following on Twitter and increasingly Facebook.

We try to ensure we’re covering what’s important to the city of Preston, whether that’s a protest in the city centre, a planning application in Fulwood or a global superstar dropping in to perform for students after cooking them their tea. From roadworks to firework displays, we aim to have what you need to know about Preston on here. Plus we’re blessed with some fantastic photographers like Tony, Paul and Bernie who can take a great picture and document the life and times of the city, its people and its buildings.

It’s great the judges and the voting public recognised this when placing us second and it makes the long evenings spent putting together our content even more worth it.

A big thank you to the Blog North judges and organisers for the evening entertainment and well done to Milners Blog on winning the category and all the other winners and shortlisted blogs.

And thank you to everyone who reads Blog Preston, we really appreciate it.
