Police want to speak to this man seen walking away from the incident

Police in Preston are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was assaulted in the city centre.

CCTV images of a man police wish to speak to have been released after the attack on Friargate.

It took place around 4pm on Monday 6 January.

A 73-year-old man was walking along and as he walked past a man stood outside The Money Shop he was punched in the face.

The elderly man fell to the floor and was fortunately left with minor injuries only.

The man responsible according to police ran away towards the market.

PC Mark Robinson said: “The area would have been busy at the time and so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed what happened to get in touch with us if they have any information that they think could help. Similarly, if anyone recognises the man in the images then I would ask them to call us.”

People with information are asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140106-07.
