The Environment Agency have now removed the flood warning on the River Ribble.

Penwortham along the Ribble estuary was placed on a flood warning from 11.15am this morning due a high tide.

A flood warning for areas of Penwortham near the River Ribble have been issued.

The Environment Agency said river levels on the Ribble were much higher than average after heavy rain.

The Ribble is expected to reach 6.4m around Penwortham due to the tide around mid-day.

Properties along Leyland Road are being warned to be alert for flooding. The area includes Penwortham Methodist Church.

Anyone concerned can check the Environment Agency website or call the Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
