The girl was approached by a male near to the junction of Tom Benson Way and Merrytrees Lane.

Reportedly, the man dropped his trousers and exposed himself after the girl got off a bus on Tanterton Hall Road. He then ran off.

The male, described as white in his late teens with brown hair in a Beatles mop style and wearing grey sports gear with trainers, was walking a bull terrier type dog.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log number LC-20140204-0832.

Preston Police say they understand people may be alarmed and concerned about the incident and would like to reassure people that they take all reports like this seriously and it is being thoroughly investigated. Neighbourhood policing officers have been, and will continue to be deployed in the area.

They make a very good point when people discuss such incidents on social media, the stories could get confused and added to as they are passed on. Without any malicious intent. They say it is really important that people report first hand instances of suspicious behaviour and to try and avoid repeating gossip and third hand information.
