A new supermarket is coming to Fishergate.
AdvertisementTesco has lodged plans to convert stores at the bottom end of the major shopping street into a new convenience Express store.
The plans come hot on the heels of Sainsbury’s announcing they will be converting the former HSBC bank.
Tesco spokesman Mark Thomas said: “We’re really pleased to have applied for minor works to bring the vacant units on Fishergate back into use as a Tesco Express.
“Our store will help to rejuvenate this end of the high street, provide great convenient shopping for the community and create up to 20 jobs.”
Tesco have applied to install a new shop front and new signage to the currently empty shops.
The supermarket will also include a new ATM.
Fishergate is currently subject to major roadworks as Lancashire County Council spend £3.4 million on making the road better for pedestrians.
