British Transport Police are appealing for help to trace a woman after a station windowsill in Lancashire was defaced with a cigarette lighter.
The incident happened at Kirkham Railway station at 11.30pm on Thursday, 19 June.
Two women sat on a bench in the booking hall rolling cigarettes.
One of the women then proceeded to melt the window sill with a lighter. The women could have been travelling on to Preston.
PC Peter Wilcock said: “This was a deliberate act which caused around £100 worth of damage.
“Fortunately, the damage was contained, but this incident could have resulted in a fire.
“We treat all acts of vandalism seriously and are making efforts to find those responsible.
“As part of our investigation we have isolated CCTV images of a woman who we believe can help us with our enquiries.
“Anyone who recognises her should get in touch with us.”
