Ben Ashworth is confirming himself as one of the great Prestonians as he completed twice round the Guild Wheel.
AdvertisementThe father of three from Broadgate has been diagnosed with bowel cancer and has been running marathons while doing his chemotheraphy.
Hundreds of people turned out to support Ben as he made his way through Avenham Park for a 5k stretch of his marathon challenge.
Organised by his wife Louise the santa dash saw people pay to wear a pair of cheeky bum pants which raise awareness of bowel cancer.
Posting on Facebook after completing the two-lap challenge, Ben paid tribute to his wife Louise.
He said: “Feeling incredibly tired, but really satisfied and incredibly grateful after my 45 mile run today.
“Really glad that the journalist interviewed Louise too. She organised today’s celebrations including the amazing Cheeky Santa Dash. I’m very proud of her!
“I’m very grateful to all the people that came out and took part in the Santa dash and came to our Christmas party. Met so many amazing guys and girls. I didn’t get the chance to speak to all of you, was great to chat to some of you. Your support means the world to us.
“The reception I got at the half way stage before the Cheeky Santa Dash and again at the finish after 45 miles running was amazing. Thanks everyone.”
The Santa Dash has raised more than £1,200 for charity which is on top of the £16,000 Ben has raised from his marathon efforts which have included completing the Berlin Marathon, Chester Marathon and others.
