The Varieties will be opening at The Harris Museum & Art Gallery on Thursday, February 12.
The exhibition features 10 regionally and nationally renowned artists, with work ranging from painting and performance to film and sculpture.
There will also be objects from the Harris’ local history collection.
The Varieties plays with the conventions of 19th and 20th century variety theatre.
It draws on two influential artists past and present; Harold Offeh, with interests in performance, video and film, who often uses humour in his work, and Preston’s Will Onda – clown, acrobat and filmmaker of the early twentieth century.
Artists featured in the exhibition:
Harold Offeh, Jonathan Baldock, Mark Bleakley, Andrea Booker, Stuart Edmundson, David Mackintosh, Mexico (Simon Boase, James Maxfield, Zoe Sawyer), Erkka Nissinen, Florence Peake and Sean Penlington.
