A man who went to confront a gang of youths intimating his family at his front stepĀ has been put in hospital.
AdvertisementPolice are appealing for information after the man, 45, suffered head injuries when a group of youths threw traffic cones and pieces of wood at him.
The incident happened on Friday 20 March at 10.10pm in Fishwick.
The man went out to confront the youths in Acregate Lane, after they had been causing a disturbance outside his home. HeĀ was set upon in Fishwick Parade.
The group rushed the man to the floor and punched and kicked him.
The victim is in Royal Preston Hospital in a stable condition.
Sergeant Paul McLernon from Preston Police said: “I would like to reassure the local community that this type of street disorder is rare and we are providing extra patrols in the area.
“We are investigating exactly how this incident has come to occur and would encourage anyone with information to speak to a local officer or call us.”
