Police have confirmed the investigation into the death of a student in Preston has been dropped.
AdvertisementMilda Okuynte was found lying in Preston New Road around 10.50pm on Tuesday 24 March.
The 20-year-old student at the University of Central Lancashire was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but later died.
A 26-year-old man from Lytham St Annes had been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and was bailed until May 29. He faces no charges.
A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: “We aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with what happened. The matter has been passed to the coroner.”
The Lithuanian student’s death provoked an outpuring of tributes from fellow students, friends and lecturers who had taught her.
Her artwork was published widely online as friends showed what a talented student she had been.
An inquest is due to take place on Tuesday 18 August at 2pm into Milda’s death. It will be held at the Municipal Buildings in Blackpool.
