A series of temporary closures are to take place in August as roadworks at the Stanifield Lane/A582 roundabout come to a close.

Lancashire County Council say the works are needed to complete the road widening which has been taking place along the route.

Eventually a dual carriageway is to run along the majority of the A582 from the Golden Way bypass through to the M65 junction.

Temporary overnight road closures will be in place between 8pm and 5am, on the following nights:

Phil Wilson, project manager for the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal, said: “The resurfacing of the road is a major milestone in these improvements, which are nearly complete. The work is expected to be substantially completed by late August.

“The improvement work was started last year by the county council to increase the capacity of the A582 and reduce delays on this key route in and out of Preston.

“We’ll be directing road users along diversionary routes for local and through traffic. However, the weight restriction will remain in place for Lostock Hall, and heavy goods vehicles will not be directed through the village.

“We’re working hard to reduce any disruption and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience. We hope that people will bear with us while this improvement work takes place.”

Work on the A582 is funded by the City Deal, a £484 million investment in major roads and housing developments in Preston and South Ribble.
