The 23.5 hectare array would be put up in fields off Preston Road and would operate for around 25 years.

Planning officers say the proposals have received no objections.

An early concern about impact to great crested newts from the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit has been addressed by the developers.

The plans will be discussed at the city council’s planning committee from 1.30pm on Thursday at the Town Hall.
