Councillors have rejected an attempt by MACs bar to adjourn a licensing review hearing.
AdvertisementThe troubled bar is to have a request by Preston Police to review its premises licence heard from 2pm on Thursday.
A hearing at the Town Hall opened at 10am with Tom Day, solicitor acting on behalf of MACs, arguing the hearing should be adjourned to allow the bars management sufficient time to prepare evidence and witness statements in response to Preston Police’s allegations.
Solicitor Sarah Clover, acting on behalf of Preston Police, said the hearing was a replay of many of the arguments already heard in Crown Court when MACs had a closure order overturned.
Councillor David Hammond, chairing the meeting, sided with the police’s argument and said delaying the hearing was not in the public’s interest.
