A former solicitors offices standing empty in New Hall Lane could be turned into a new restaurant.
AdvertisementAyesha Qureshi, a former solicitor based in Leeds, has tabled plans to convert the building in Fishwick into a grill restaurant.
Parking could be a problem for the building, what used to be the Birley Arms in 2007, but a deal has been brokered with Voi Jeans for part of their Mercer Street car park to be used by customers through a valet parking service.
Up to 12 jobs are expected to be created if the conversion of both floors is given the go ahead.
A statement from Partek Design Services said: “Under the City Deal programme New Hall Lane is to be regenerated with improvements such as reducing the width of the roadway thereby creating wider landscaped pathways and new street furniture.
“The proposal will introduce a new commercial use to the building, providing much needed local employment opportunities as well as enhancing the visual appearance of the site in keeping with the regeneration proposals.
“The existing premises have been unoccupied for the past eight months and will continue to fall into a state of disrepair and suffer vandalism if a new use is not provided.”
The restaurant would open from 11am to 11.30pm each day apart from Mondays.
Full plans can be viewed on the city council website.
