A Preston bus firm has issued a statement following its final bus ride in the 107 years serving the city.
AdvertisementJohn Fishwick and Sons ceased trading on Saturday 24 October and the route from Preston to Leyland has been passed to Stagecoach.
A statement posted on the Fishwicks website states: “We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our passengers for their custom and support over the years, it is much appreciated.
“Anyone who has paid deposits or payments for holidays will be contacted shortly. Please be assured your payment is protected by means of an Insurance Bond.”
The firm operated the well-known green buses, including the 111 service, and their closure has triggered an outpouring of memories from Prestonians.
Stagecoach announced on Friday night they would step in to operate the 111 service until further notice, although other Fishwick and Sons routes do not have a confirmed future.
