Preston Tringe Festival
The open to all, Preston Tringe festival is now just over a month away and it is promising to bring you an amazing mixture of theatre, music, comedy and magic from all over the U.K.
Don’t forget that the festival will be kicking off on the 24th July and will be bustling with arts and acts until 1st August. This week, we’re taking a look at what the Blackpool, Fylde and Cumbria participants have to offer us in the form of theatre, magic and undoubtedly a little bit of mayhem.
New Local Writers @ Preston Tringe
The infamous Preston Tringe Festival, which captures the brave and bold talents of theatre, comedy, magic and music will be kicking off on the 23rd July and will be entertaining us until the 1st August.

Blood Wedding 27 & 28 May
Screaming Theatre’s latest production is the passionate and poetic masterpiece Blood Wedding by Spanish poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca.
Every Day She Lies a Little
Jenn Ashworth‘s debut novel, A Kind of Intimacy, has garnered excellent reviews from the critics and public alike. It’s the story of a lonely, obese woman who moves home and begins stalking her neighbour. Imagine if Kathy Bates moved to a quiet cul-de-sac in Fleetwood and you’re half way there. Despite the air of menace there is something very funny and likable about the character of Annie, who guided by self-help books is able to justify her bizarre behaviour. Local author Jenn has just completed her second novel Cold Light which is set in Preston. I wanted to find out more…

Word Soup
Preston’s excellent live-lit night Word Soup is one year old this month! And to celebrate Lancashire Writing Hub will be presenting the cream of Lancashire’s writing talent plucked from previous Word Soup nights and launching the first ever Word Soup publication. Jane Brunning from Lancashire Writing Hub gave us the lowdown….

Abandon Normal Devices (AND) Festival rolls into Preston this weekend with a programme of events kicking off with Simon Faithfull’s Fake Moon (see below) and finishing up with an inflatable cinema and an art/science experiment in an ice cream van! The travelling new media and art festival is landing in locations across the north-west and this weekend it’s Preston’s turn. Here are the dates & times for your diary.
Fake Full Moon Spotted by Bus Station!
If you’re in Preston city centre this Friday or Saturday evening (26th & 27th March) keep your eyes peeled for a ‘Fake Moon’ rising over Preston Bus Station. Yes folks this odd lunar apparition will be arcing across one of Preston’s beloved landmarks at approximately 8pm!
New Exhibition: Recent Findings
Head down to the Harris Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday as it launches Recent Findings, a new exhibition and British premiere of current work by artist Simon Faithfull. Faithfull works predominantly in drawing, video and installation, using different technologies to record his surroundings.The show combines new work Faithfull has shown in Germany, France and New York but have yet to be shown in the UK.
Preston Reggae Festival
Local dub poet Prince Marley stopped by the Preston FM studio yesterday to chat about his poetry and hopes for the Preston Reggae Festival, planned for this summer.
