In pictures: Compagnie Bam acrobatic preview in Winckley Square
Crowds at the Preston Guild 2012 Square Food Festival were treated to a free preview from the Compagnie Bam acrobatic show ‘Switch’ which takes place on Monday 3 September in the big top at Avenham Park. Compagnie Bam are formed of graduates from the French circus school of Chalon and are based in Amiens. Here is a picture set of the performance from Tony Worrall:

Arts project aims to find out what Preston should become during Guild week
A new arts project aimed at finding out how Preston can be the “best, most liveable small city”. For eight days a group of creatives will take over an area of the first floor of St George’s Shopping Centre to ask Prestonians if they feel like Preston is even a city. Beer festival returning to the Continental for ninth time
Good news for beer fans as the Continental pub prepares to host its ninth beer festival. It’s fast becoming one of the highlights of Preston, and Lancashire’s, culinary and drinking calendar. Nick Park returning to Preston for special Guild conversation session
One of Preston’s most famous sons will return to the city for a special event at the Guild. Musical mix set for two huge tents in Miller Park for Guild spectacular
A colourful mix of folk music, blues, electro, spoken word and hip hop wll be taking over Miller Park during the Guild celebrations.
