An Amble along Lancaster Canal
Yey the sun has arrived! Its the middle of August but I’m not complaining, I fancied a day out of town so go to dust my bike down and discover two broken brakes and a puncture in each tyre. Oh. Looks like I’m on foot again. Eager to hug a few trees I head down to Aqueduct Street, duck through some trees and onto the beginning of the Lancaster Canal.
The Six Weeks of Summer
Wa-hey, the summer holidays are upon us! Here’s our Top Ten recommendations to keep the kids, and you, entertained in the city this summer…
Strolling with Spiderman
I am training for the Moonlight Walk. It’s an organised half marathon walk to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice. I will be walking with a close friend in memory of her lovely mum, whose life was cut short by cancer last Christmas. Training started yesterday with a not too gruelling thirty laps of the pool. With a strict regime to stick to, ahem, I enticed my four year old out into the brilliant sunshine to take a mystery tour of Preston. The deal was I’d write the words and he would take the pictures. Here’s where we headed…
Dawn Chorus
The Fishwick Bottoms nature reserve will play host to the magical experience of the dawn chorus this Saturday 24th April and Preston’s park rangers are encouraging people to come along and enjoy the experience.
Keep the kids entertained this Easter!
Got younger family members to entertain this Easter? There’s plenty going on around town to keep little people out of mischief, whether it’s rain or shine!
Get Involved!

As you may already be aware I’m very keen to have a whacking great, fabulously equipped play area in Preston. Similar to Withy Grove but for us city siders, well our kids. A place for children of all ages, from tiny tots to teens, with facilities for able bodied and disabled children to play.
Outdoor Fun this Half Term

Preston’s parks will be host to plenty of green-fingered fun to keep the kids entertained this half term.
Hello Sunshine
After a gorgeous sunset across Preston last night we have been blessed with sunshine today. Hurray! Spotted this cheeky squirrel munching pitta bread in Moor Park this morning.
Next Friends of Moor Park meeting Thursday 4th February 2010. To become a member contact Preston Parks department on 01772 906471.
Grey skies looming…
Undeterred by the grey clouds looming over the skies of Preston myself and short stuff set out on one of our fantastic expeditions across town. First stop was to admire the new mural painted on the side of The Ship Inn, Fylde Road.
Winter Wonderland
Braved the black ice on our doorstep and ventured onto Haslam Park for what turned out to be a glorious day frolicking in the snow!
