Clean-up begins as thousands of litres of waste oil found in Savick Brook
More than 15,000 litres of waste oil is floating in a Fulwood brook. The Environment Agency are appealing for information after the oil was found in a 3km tributary of Savick Brook in Masonwood Park and also further down near Eastway. Winckley Square restoration: 42 new trees to be planted
New ornamental trees are to be planted in Winckley Square as part of ongoing restoration work in the Georgian oasis. Plans from the Winckley Square Community Interest Company were approved by the council to plant 42 new trees. Virgin Media stump up to help Preston City Council crackdown on graffiti
Virgin Media have agreed to contribute towards the cost of cleaning up graffiti on street cabinets. The broadband company will pay £2,500 a year to Preston City Council to paint over graffiti on cabinets or apply a layer of anti-defacement coating which helps stop vandalism. Brockholes Nature Reserve to be signposted from major Preston roads
Signs for Brockholes Nature Reserve are due to be added on major routes around the city. Winckley Square area in line for £1 million of funding to revive Georgian streets
Winckley Square will receive a new funding boost to help revive the Georgian streets. The Heritage Lottery Fund has released initial funding of £41,664 to Preston City Council and Winckley Square Community Interest Company with the promise of nearly £1 million more to come. Trees set to be felled as part of Winckley Square restoration
Six sick and dying trees are due to be cut down in Winckley Square as part of ongoing restoration work.
