Get involved in Preston’s nature this winter
Those who have green fingers can get involved in a host of activities in Preston’s parks this winter. Preston park rangers will be teaching volunteers how to coppice, plant trees and look after hedgerows. Ribbleton nature reserve to be protected from nuisance motorbikes
Changes to stop motorbikes blighting a nature reserve in the East of the city will be heard by councillors next month. A planning application has been submitted by Preston city council to install barriers blocking motorcycles tearing through the wildlife area. Proposals for new Preston homes go on public display
Plans for how Preston and the surrounding area are to cope with a growing demand for new homes will go on display today. The Central Lancashire Core Strategy shows how Preston, South Ribble and Chorley will have to build 22,000 homes by 2026 to meet its exploding population. Ribbleton Gardening Club scoops Britain in Bloom Award
A gardening club in Preston is celebrating after winning a national Britain in Bloom Award. Funding on offer for green-fingered residents and groups
Community groups who help improve the environment could be in with a chance of winning some funding. Preston council is calling on green-fingered organisations and individuals to apply for money to improve their local area. Brockholes nature reserve wins tourism award
A nature reserve in the east of the city has won a regional tourism award. Brockholes nature reserve on Preston New Road, Fishwick opened in the Spring and has now been awarded for its popularity with locals and tourists.
