Circus of Horrors returns home
3rd, February 2011 by Katie BamberPreston has produced its fair share of performers, from Corrie stars to wrestlers. But few are as ghoulish as Circus of Horrors ringmaster Doctor Haze, whose latest macabre spectacle returned to his home city on Sunday. Haze founded the Circus 15 years ago and the troupe has since toured major venues and festivals throughout Europe, South America and Asia. But, for Haze, nowhere rivals the city where he [...]

Good Old Fashioned Fun
6th, January 2011 by Lisa McManusFancy a bracing New Year’s walk with a non-calorific treat at the end of it? Earlier this week we braved the gnarly weather and headed to Southport for a stroll along Southport Pier and a play on some old fashioned penny slot machines.

Preston Bus Station: picture special
18th, November 2010 by Andy HallsWith the Tithebarn regeneration project looking likely to go ahead, Preston’s historic Bus Station could soon be a thing of the past. There have been mixed views, and many debates about whether the building should remain; whether it is a work of art, or an eyesore. Jonathan Kenyon, who studies at Preston College focussed an entire project on the building, and produced some beautiful results.
Post a commentWhat Victorian Benefactors Did For Preston
10th, November 2010 by Peter DemainThe industrial era is one easy to overlook in a provincial context in the face of what I and people of varying ages learnt in school. We are granted a rough idea about how life changed, but my education in the matter was confined to general developments leading up to the years when Victoria was on the throne. But what of the individuals who sought to change Preston for the better?
