Some news to cheer Preston North End fans today, David Beckham will be returning to Deepdale next Saturday to lead the celebrations for Sir Tom Finney’s 90th Birthday. Following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United, Preston lie 13th in the table with fading play-off hopes, while Walsall currently occupy the final relegation spot. Tributes to Preston man killed by 200ft fall during Lake District walk

A keen walker who slipped and fell over 200ft from a ledge on one of the Lake District fells has been named today. Peter Huntley, who lived in Primrose Grove, Deepdale, was out walking with a friend near High Street in the Lakes above Blea Water. Alleygating plans on the agenda for Counties area of Deepdale

Gates are set to come down on troubled back alleys in Deepdale, as the council applies for permission to gate them. Four more areas of Preston will be getting new alleygates in the next year, according to a new report. Plans for a skate park in a historic Preston park have been submitted by the council. A part of Moor Park opposite Deepdale stadium will be developed to allow skateboarding, inline skating and BMXing. Drugs raids in Deepdale result in three arrests

Three men have been arrested after police raided four homes in Deepdale and Plungington yesterday morning.
