Ever walked past the imposing frontage of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and thought, why aren’t the steps at the front?
AdvertisementWell now they could be as part of a new art project in the city.
The Museum is seeking artists to submit their ideas for how to animate the steps which will appear up from Market Street.
From the 17 August to 15 September the steps will be in place as part of the In Certain Places project.
Samantha Blackburn, cultural development manager at Preston City Council, said: “We are looking for a range of activities and works of any scale from single one off performances and interventions to more ambitious proposals.
“The budget for the programme is limited so we are looking for projects which offer value for money. Proposals can be for new work or for adaptations of existing projects.”
The council will choose a number of commissions between £200 to a maximum value of £2000 per successful proposal.
To discuss the potential projects contact Alex Walker on a.walker@preston.gov.uk before June 7.
Proposals must be one side of A4 complete with mock-ups and illustrations.
The deadline for proposals is 12pm on Friday 14 June.
