Motorists in the city have been given their final warning as roadworks begin on the Broughton roundabout on Friday.
AdvertisementThe £2.6m scheme aims to ease congestion on the junction between the M55 and A6 which often causes gridlock across the North of the city.
The county council will be widening the northbound carriageway to three lanes from two and the southbound A6 will gain an extra lane just for accessing the motorway.
Traffic lights will also be installed at every junction on the roundabout and additional signals back at Eastway and Garstang Road.
The Broughton roundabout works are expected to cause delays while being undertaken but the county council says it is all part of a masterplan to increase the road network in Preston.
