Riversway Festival begins on Friday evening with hundreds of boats expected to moor up in Preston Dock.
AdvertisementThousands of visitors are expected to bask in the sunshine with temperatures staying at a sweltering 25 degrees throughout Saturday and Sunday.
The festival, which this year is run by volunteers after Preston City Council pulled its funding, begins on Friday with a privater boaters function.
Dragon boat racing kicks off the Saturday with the teams arriving at 8am to limber up.
They will be under starters orders from 10am for the Chinese Dragon Boat race, always a fun spectacle.
From 10am to 5pm there will be hospital radio DJs playing, stalls on the grass and a fairground.
Titan shows take place from 2pm to 2.30pm.
At 8pm entertainment comes from a ukele band and a DJ as the Docks becomes a party-town, and it will close with a spectacular fireworks display from 10.45pm.
Sunday’s start time is 11am with hospital radio DJs again and a mix of childrens games and prizes.
Between 11am and 5pm there will be a bird of prey display, stalls on the grass and in the marquee and a fairground.
The Sunday winds up at 5pm.
The city council has advised a road closure for the swing bridge will be in place from 12noon on Friday 19 July and 5pm on Sunday 21 July.
