Work has begun to temporarily transform the Flag Market and The Harris Museum with the installation of a supersized stairway.
The aluminium framework has been installed and the whole structure is set to be clad in timber ready for the opening by the Mayor on Saturday.
The stairway is the centrepiece of the ‘Harris Flights’ project which has been commissioned by In Certain Places in partnership with The Harris Museum, Uclan, Arts Council England and Preston City Council.
The grand staircase will host a month long programme of arts events. Visitors to The Harris Museum will be able to climb the stairs and enter the building by the main entrance on the first floor.
The public will also be able to experience a view from The Harris’s steps that’s usually reserved for the great and the good.
Don’t forget to take a picture for posterity while you’re up there : )
