A former Preston pub is to become a new fast food takeaway and student accommodation.
AdvertisementThe Queen Vic which stands on Moor Lane opposite the student halls has stood vacant for a number of years.
Now new owner Ibrahim Sanibal has applied for permission to convert the pub into a takeaway and put flats above it.
A previous plan in 2012, by a different owner, had applied for a shisha cafe on the first floor – but withdrew the proposals.
Mr Sanibal’s plans state: “The proposed takeaway is intended primarily to serve the local student community and in particular several recently established student accommodation residences within the nearby vicinity. There is some provision for road parking along Moor Lane and several student reserved car parks nearby, but the overwhelming majority of customers are expected to originate within a short walking distance of the proposed takeaway, and hence the facility may be accommodated without detriment to highway safety.
“We would note that the proposed takeaway replaces a former public house with similar opening hours and level of impact upon the local community and residential amenity.”
Lancashire Police have called for a CCTV system to be fitted and good lighting added to the exterior and rear of the building.
