Preston’s Armed Forces Day celebration is to a feature a fly past from an RAF Spitfire.
AdvertisementOrganisers have confirmed the plane will be roaring over the city centre during the event on the Flag Market.
The exact timing of the fly past is not yet known.
Councillor Drew Gale, who is the city council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “This will probably be the highlight of the day.
“To have a Spitfire overhead is going to be the icing on the cake for a great celebration for our Armed Forces and their families.
“The RAF are doing a fly over in Blackpool so we put a speculative application in and they’ve said yes. I can’t wait.”
The Armed Forces Day event is set to feature a live wrestling show, battle re-enactment and many stalls around the Flag Market.
It takes place on Saturday 28 June.
