The event is in its seventh year and will see shops in the centre offering exclusive discounts for the student population in Preston.

Jamie Laing said: “This is my first trip to Lancashire but I’ve heard that we’ve got lots of fans up here so it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet some of them and thank them for their support.

“I’ve also been told that the people of Preston are exceptionally friendly and so I’m sure we’ll receive a traditional northern welcome.”

Alanna Dent, marketing manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, said: “This is such a popular event with students, and this year is expected to be bigger and better than ever before.

“We’ve rebranded the brand name, secured some of the most popular TV celebrities and a selection of retailers are even extending the offer to put discounts in place all week, giving students more opportunity to get savvy with their spending.”

One lucky student is to get £1,000 as part of the student lock-in, and will be presented with the cash prize by the Made in Chelsea stars.

To enter the competition, students need to visit the St George’s Facebook page.
