The biggest surprise is that both Cardiff and Glasgow are wetter when you include all of Britain.

We also experience rain on an average of 153.2 days each year which means that it rains on 42% of days in Preston.

The statistics took in the average data between 1981-2010.

Liverpool, Manchester, Huddersfield and Blackpool were all in the top ten wettest cities in a very north-west heavy list.

At least the umbrella salespeople in the area will be happy.
