Preston City Council is one of the biggest employers in the city

Preston is becoming a thriving city for employment opportunities. With 2013 being one of the biggest years so far for our city and 2014 set to look even bigger, these chances will only continue to increase. There are opportunities for students, graduates and people already in a job wanting to change their career. And there are many places where these opportunities can be discovered.

Employers in Preston range in anything from medical, finance, to marketing and technology. Preston Careers is a website dedicated to the range of employment opportunities available in our city. You can search for the many careers that are featured in the area and if you are looking for a specific type of employer, you can find a variety of jobs under particular sectors. These include human resources, fashion and manufacturing, to name but a few.

Another helpful website is Local Recruit which also has a section dedicated to employers in Preston. Instead of this website simply listing a number of job vacancies available from a range of different employers, this lists a variety of employers that have job opportunities available, including Coca Cola, Ernst & Young, and Marks & Spencer, with many more on offer. On this website, you can also browse by salary and industry to make your employer more suited to you.

Preston City Council is an employer who always has opportunities available, whether you are looking for work experience or full time employment. Their website also provides a list of employers under the Preston Living Wage. This arose from the council becoming aware of the implications of being a Living Wage employer, which led to the policy that all staff would be paid the National Living Wage. This has encouraged other employers to raise their rates as well. A range of companies in Preston are now included in this new policy, including Heckford Advertising, Lancashire Global Education Centre, Ribbleton & District Window Cleaning and many more.

For students attending the university who are looking for a part time or summer job, you can visit E4S. This website offers jobs in a variety of different sectors and even provides interview tips and application form advice.
